In-Vivo Retinal Physiology; Surgical Research

Dr. Jinghua Chen earned her medical degree from Peking University Health Science Center in 1995 and received her PhD from Peking University in 1999. She completed her internship at the 3rd Clinical Hospital of Peking University, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the 2nd Clinical Hospital, Peking University where she also became a faculty member in 1999. Before Dr. Chen joined the Boston Retinal Implant Project, she was an attending physician, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, and involved in clinical and basic research projects on age-related ocular diseases, clinical electrophysiology of vision, plasmin induced posterior vitreous detachment, vitreous biochemical and rheological changes.

 

Dr. Chen performs acute and chronic in-vivo research to determine the influence of electronic stimulation on the retina and the visual cortex. Her main focus is to improve the surgical method of sub retinal chip implantation.
