Progress

The Boston Retinal Implant Project uses a variety of laboratory techniques in the development of its retinal prosthesis. The ultimate goal of the Project is to develop a prosthesis that will be commercially available to people throughout the world.

Commercially available prosthesis

The development of a commercially available prosthesis to assist blind patients is our long-term goal. Ultimately, we plan to affiliate ourselves with a company to carry forth the necessary regulatory studies and manufacturing needed to pursue FDA sanctioned clinical trials. To date, we have not affiliated with any business entity. However, we are pursuing a variety of studies to collect information that is needed to obtain Phase I FDA approval to test the safety of our device following implantation in a human.
